Girls Trip : Movie Review

I hate when they hype a movie so much that you spend your hard earned on a movie ticket only to feel like you were robbed. Luckily this isn't one of them.

Girls Trip stars Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish as well as a few cameos to boot in this Hangover-esque story.

Having a cast including Latifah, Pinkett Smith and Hall you may be thinking that the 3 would dominate screen presence throughout. But for me Tiffany Haddish definitely steals the show. Haddish's willingness to let her 'ghetto' side out and let loose with attitude captivates you.

The film has it's lowbrow moments that may surprise you, but that's mostly because we're used to seeing them in male character driven movies. Not since Bridesmaids have I seen this sort of comedy. Girls Trip shows a bit of heart too with character interactions that seem all too familiar and an underlying story of how much value we place on how people perceive us and how 'great' or 'perfect' our life seems to be, and how far we will go to keep up appearances.

If you're a women 18-50, grab a few bottles of wine and set aside some time with your besties to go see this together. If you're a guy who's being dragged along to this by a lady friend, have no fear. It's all going to be ok. You'll survive, you may even enjoy it!

My Rating: What if Sex and the City and Hangover had a baby - 8 out of 10
