The band entered one of their songs 'Tomorrow' into the Pick Me competition (conducted by SBS TV and Triple J Radio) and won recording time and a video clip to accompany the song. For the broadcast of their clip 'Tomorrow' on June 16, 1994 their name would change, to Silverchair (after the C.S Lewis Chronicles of Narnia Series). They quickly got nicknamed 'Nirvana in Pyjamas', with many comparisons being drawn between lead singer Johns and the by then recently deceased Kurt Cobain.
Silverchair never looked back, letting loose 5 highly successful albums over a 12 year period. They quickly strayed from their Indie/Alternative beginnings to play with sounds, both more electronic and orchestral which sometimes divided their fan base. Yet ultimately opening them up to an even wider audience along the way.
I've chosen 'Greatest View' from the album Diorama. I love this song and hope to see 'The Chair' emerge out of slumber and have Daniel Johns hit us in the head with his creative genius.
